๐Ÿ’„ ๐Ÿ’‹ ๐Ÿ‘ก Couture Fashion Indian Wedding Affair: Anshul and Kinjil's 4-Day Indian Wedding at Wild Dunes Resort, Charleston, SC

There's nothing I love more than being immersed in the chaos and the madness of four-day Indian wedding weekends. Anshul and Kinjilโ€™s Indian wedding at Wild Dunes Resort on Isle of Palms, SC? Did NOT disappoint. In this regal affair, discover the fashion, flair, and style of this incredible love affair, with a bass-dropping soundtrack to match. Watch now.

One of the most darling fashion-forward weddings of our year. We figured for this feature, we would do a bit of a deep dive into the fashion of Anshul and Kinjil's incredible four-day Indian wedding weekend.

The Look: Mehndi Fashion

Mendhi: Kinjil sported a draped saree by Amit Aggarwal, Anshul rocked a koti vest with fabrics selected by Kinjil.

The Look: Haldi Fashion

Haldi: Kinjil rocked a jacket and palazzo set by Paulmi & Harsh, paired with Gucci shoes. Anshul shined in his kurta created from matching fabrics.

Thereโ€™s nothing I love more than being immersed in the chaos and the madness of an Indian wedding .

One of my favorite things I was reminded of at this Indian wedding is how inclusive the community feels. These multi-day, multi-event affairs filled with so much excitement, the aunties and the uncles all gathering in to be a part of the moment.

I love how no one is afraid to jump in and fully immerse into the moment.

It's full presence, full "get-in-there" moments of celebration surrounded and immersed by loved ones.

The Look: Sangeet

For the Sangeet-- Kinjil rocked a gorgeous lehenga design by Diya Rajvvir. Anshul sported a long bundi jacket and kurta set from Jatin Malik.

As a videographer, it is a breath of fresh air to see a community that prioritizes documenting memories as much as being immersed in the moment.

Style: Indian Ceremony Wardrobe

Wedding Ceremony, Kinjil rocked an incredible lehenga from designer Pooja Keyur, Anshul wore the most regal sherwani designed by Zillinie.

I love the blend of traditional portraiture for the elders mixed with the modern day celebration of the younger friends and family. It feels so balanced. I love documenting wedding weekend stories that cater to both the elders and the next generation.

โ€˜Dem boys. Wow.

Standing amidst Indian wedding guests and the Bridal party, utterly overwhelmed by the beauty and radiance of the physical garb and joy emanating from everyone present, all I want to do is consume, document, and showcase this skip-a-beat beauty. I find that I too, with camera in hand, am perfectly adorned for the occasion. Filming four-day Indian weddings is my happy place.

Hats off to Anmol Vig of Alfaaz photography, one of our all-time favorite partners in crime for Indian weddings for how he literally paints his portraits through styling each personโ€™s body, shape, and posture. Itโ€™s incredible to witness.

WHY INDIAN WEDDINGS ROCK: BUILT IN NAP TIMES (AKA wardrobe change timeslots.)

Also, if you're unfamiliar with Indian weddings, there are built-in NAP TIMES. That's right. Or, more accurately, these moments of pause between the morning Haldi or the morning baraat + wedding ceremony and the Sangeet and the Reception give time for guests and wedding party alike to transition between ornate, incredible outfits.

Louie, in his matching Pooja Keyur-inspired garb for ceremony day. (He had an outfit to match all five occasions over each of the four days.)

Indian Weddings: Not For the Faint Of Heart (Or Extreme Type-A Personality)

Indian wedding celebrations are my happy place, but this isn't to say there wasn't an initial learning curve.

There's a reason Indian weddings can have such a barrier to entry.

Indian wedding clients seek out Indian wedding photographers and videographers because it is an event unlike any other live events:

  • Indian wedding timelines are more of a "suggestion", a broad strokes approach to time.

  • Details like "What hotel room is who, what, and where in?" are often figured out on the fly (something I think many of my traditional cookie cutter judeo-Christian wedding photographers and videographers would blow a gasket on.)

There is an organic, raw humanity that comes with the affair of an Indian wedding. I find it to be a breath of fresh air.

I love the tenderness of the aunties and the cousins all coming together to take on the ten thousand micro-details and responsibilities to pull off such a stylist affair.

I love the drama of the mamas preparing their hearts to let their daughters go into this new exciting moment.

I love the intensity of the rituals and ceremonies bringing couple and family alike through the transition to a new marriage, a new union and alliance with their new extended families.

It is not a mere 15-minute ceremony to โ€œI Doโ€ โ€” every family member works and collaborates with so much love and their own personality woven into this new union between two lovers. It is a new alliance of family. A beyond beautiful, collective labor of love.

The Fit: Wedding Reception Evening

For this Indian wedding reception, Kinjil wore a gown by designer Mehul Gupta (ugh, it was absolutely incredible, that CAPE!!), paired with Jimmy Choo heels; Anshul knocked it out of the park with his three-piece suit from Suit Supply, paired with Gucci shoes.

Sheer Social Stamina Required In Indian Wedding Weekends

Also, let's talk about the sheer stamina of extroverted energy required of everyone, but especially the bride and groom.

I have the extroversion energy of a field mouse.

In my own self-hosted parties and community gatherings, I have a good four hours in me, maybe six hours if I'm well-rested.

Eight hours of extroverted social interaction, I'll probably need the next day to recover from such a feat of being the center of attention.

So my Indian wedding couples, like Anshul and Kinjil? I still don't think I've been able to successfully peel my jaw off the floor after watching these two maneuver four days of wedding festivities with so much grace, so much energy, such a positive attitude.

It is no easy feat being picked at, prodded with safety pins, lubed up with lotion to slip on dozens of bangles, laden with heavy earrings. When it comes to the art of embodying the perfectly pinned dupatta, stoles, and eyelash-glue anchored mathapattis, Anshul and Kinjil take the ladoo.

Congratulations, Anshul and Kinjil!!! We wish you two and your beautiful families the absolute best!!!
