LYNDSAY AND NICK // AN ADVENTURE STARTS AT SEA PINES RESORT ON HILTON HEAD

Wedding at Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head

I’ve been to a lot of weddings.

But once in a while, I get the privilege of meeting a couple and their families who make the whole experience as memorable for me as it is for them.

Lyndsay and Nick are one such couple.

The day I met their family, my first thought was–“I think I may have missed out on my childhood.”

I always love asking what everyone’s comfort level and “vibe” is for being in front of the camera in our initial call. K assured me, in no uncertain terms, that her girls’ LOVE being in front of the lens.

She told me about their love of acting, evidenced by their home video productions, including one called “The Thing In the Toilet” where their dad (ever the incredible sport) knelt on his shoes without a second thought to play the infamous toilet creature. (And I’m still asking for a copy of this incredible production.)

It was clear – these are my people.

Sea Pines Resort weddings are something that I always look forward to.

It’s a world-renowned golf destination that truly offers guests something worth traveling for—a mix of picturesque landscapes, enchanting traditions, and perfect weather, all enjoyed with the familiar presence of friends and family.

But while Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head Island may be a popular wedding destination, Lyndsay and Nick actually chose their ceremony to be held at the gorgeous Oak tree at the town center–a spot where we’ve never filmed before.

It felt extra special to capture the start of this couple’s journey together at a site that I was familiar with–yet they still managed to find the one spot in Sea Pines Resort that I’ve never documented before.

Was it entirely a coincidence that they chose to exchange vows by the oak tree when Lyndsay’s family actually has roots (pun very much intended–come on, I just had to!) on Hilton Head Island?

Maybe not. While this couple’s story is just beginning, Lyndsay’s family was already brimming with stories and memories where the quaint town center and the incredible lighthouse (the prettiest lighthouse in the southeast, if you ask me) is in the spotlight. Needless to say, these were key elements that I had to incorporate in their wedding video highlight reel.

Idyllic and Romantic

For Lyndsay and Nick’s wedding, we worked closely with Spencer Events.

At the helm of this incredible team is Amanda, who is known for always throwing down and executing events with seamless ease.

One of our first projects together was a lavishly luxurious Gujarati Indian wedding, hosted at The Westin on Hilton Head Island.

If you’ve ever been part of an Indian wedding, then you know it’s a multi-day event of incredible traditions and revelry. Amanda and her team, fortunately, were there to facilitate everything flawlessly. You couldn’t expect anything less for this Sea Pines Resort Hilton Head wedding for Lyndsay and Nick and I was looking forward to working with them again.

Reception at Sea Pines Resort

On the day of the wedding, Lyndsay got ready in the upstairs space overlooking the harbor with her girls.

And while it’s typical for the bride and the bridal entourage to relish in the quiet, ethereal, feminine energy of the day, Lyndsay’s crew brought a totally different, high-energy vibe.

Let me tell you, having Lyndsay, her mom, and her sisters bring together an entire crew that were game to film TikTok dances and impromptu Broadway performances, peppered with film references to Harry Potter –

I was basically in bridal-prep heaven.

A stone’s throw from where the girls were getting ready, Nick was getting ready with his boys at a private residence.

As expected, he and the boys were equally rambunctious and goofy.

I don’t think I would ever find a groom that would willingly use a tiny leaf blower to capture a shot of his amazing beard blowing in the wind. In the living room. :)

Putting Down Roots

The ceremony took place under the grand oak tree at the heart of the town center, with branches that unfurled toward the harbor and the lighthouse, perfectly framing the couple as they said their “I do’s.”

As the guests moved towards the reception after the ceremony, they were ushered to the side room at Sea Pines Resort where the interiors were perfectly set by the couple's amazing florist, Em Creative.

Pro tip for couples–if you find your reception decor needs a little oomph, flowers are the way to go. For Lyndsay and Nick’s reception. Em Creative set up stunning, towering floral arrangements throughout the table and it was breathtaking.

Now, a great wedding can definitely build core memories–not just for the couple but for the guests as well.

But you know it’s an awesome wedding when even the wedding crew (people who have been to hundreds of them and have seen them all) will see and experience something new.

Nick’s family has this FANTASTIC Hawaii 5-0 wedding dance tradition involving all the guests sitting DOWN ON THE DANCE FLOOR in imaginary canoes, with one leader at the front letting each respective boat know where and how fast they should paddle for the proverbial waves coming their way. It was a fun icebreaker that set the tone of the entire reception.

The message was clear: we’re here to celebrate, guys–loosen up and enjoy!

The speeches — Lyndsay’s sisters (both highly creative writers, one living out in L.A. immersed

in the production world) essentially wrote a mini-screen play revolving around what Lyndsay and Nick wrote to one another in their respective high school yearbooks.

Whatever “Sushi It Up?” meant to these two in high school, it was evidently memorable enough to bind these two on a journey to forever.

Side note—I, too, low-key am wondering, (to this day) what does it indeed mean to “Sushi-It-Up?”

Hard as it was to top that speech, Nick’s twin brother rose to the occasion and nailed this whole “twin channels' bit that was as entertaining as it was fun.

For Lyndsay and Nick, it was clear that their wedding wasn’t just an occasion that marked the start of their life together.

It was an opportunity for friends and family to be part of an adventure they’d never forget.
